Described as a pianist with ‘dynamic strokes and colorful tones, and known for her superb performances that commune with the audience,’ Kim graduated from Sunhwa Arts Middle and High School and the College of Music, Seoul National University. She pursued further studied by earning Master of Arts from The Juilliard School and Doctor of Musical Arts from the SUNY at Stony Brook. While studying abroad, Kim participated in and performed at the Bowdoin Summer Music Festival and played chamber music at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall on the 200th anniversary of Mozart’s death. She also performed solo recitals and chamber music at the Julliard’s Paul Hall and the Staller Center of SUNY at Stony Brook. Then, she performed 35 recitals in Korea and abroad, and appeared in the recital specialized for young pianists organized by the magazine The Piano, new music concert organized by the Piano Society of Korea, regular recital of the French Music Research Society, regular recital of the Uni-Soloists, and regular recital of the Contemporary Music Society in Seoul. In 2005, she performed all of Ravel’s piano solo works in two recitals. Having performed with the Saarbrucken Orchestra in Germany, the Kazan National Symphony Orchestra in Russia, the Rome Symphony Orchestra in Italy, and the Oradea State Philharmonic Orchestra in Romania, she continues to perform actively at home and abroad, including an invited recital in Dalian, China, and a recital and master class in Germany at the invitation of the Dresden University of Music.
